The Success Story

The Sam Houston Statue and Visitors Center has seen great success since opening February, 1995. As of December 2005, more than 573,000 visitors have signed the guestbook during operating hours, averaging approximately 50,000 visitors personally greeted per year.

Internationally known, the Sam Houston Statue attracts people from around the world. There are 91 foreign countries represented in the guest book.

When people visit here, they don’t need many words to express their impression. In the guestbook, visitors seem to agree by noting such comments as “It’s nice, beautiful, very enjoyable, very honored.” Also they say “we received good information” or “so, this is Texas” and some “even stayed.” Sometimes they just say “Thank You!” With these words and expressions, we can sense the power of this very interesting man, Sam Houston, and observe the talent of David Adickes.
